An ATEX zone is an area where flammable gases, vapours or dust create a risk of explosion. The ATEX directive requires companies to classify these zones and use only approved equipment.

For tank trucks and storage tanks in an ATEX zone, explosion-proof overfill protection and level sensors are required, in line with applicable ATEX and EN standards.

Does ATEX only apply to gases?

No. ATEX zones apply to both gas atmospheres (0,1,2) and dust atmospheres (20,21,22).
